The Unofficial Kick-Off to Summer.

As the final days of spring stretch out and the promise of warmer weather hangs in the air, a familiar question starts buzzing in group chats and family discussions: What are we doing this weekend?

After a long winter and a wet spring, we all share that specific itch—the craving to get out of the house, soak up some energy, and find an event that actually checks all the boxes. We are looking for that perfect intersection of great food, unique shopping, and genuine family entertainment.

As we head into the summer of 2026, one event is positioning itself as the ultimate answer to that search. On May 24th, 2026, the Ancaster Fairgrounds will transform into the headquarters for summer excitement with the Foodie FunFest.

Here is why this is the family-friendly afternoon you’ve been looking for.

A Taste of What’s to Come

First and foremost, you cannot have a “FunFest” without incredible food. Hosted inside the spacious and accessible Marritt Hall, this event is a culinary playground.

The organizers have curated a lineup that goes beyond the standard fare. We are talking about a diverse range of food vendors serving up mouth-watering dishes, alongside a refreshing selection of non-alcoholic craft drinks perfect for a sunny afternoon. Whether you are a dedicated foodie looking for the next big flavor trend or a parent just trying to find a lunch the kids will actually eat, the options here are plentiful.

Planning Your Summer Adventures

What makes the Foodie FunFest truly unique, however, is that it isn’t just a market—it’s a launchpad for your entire summer.

While you munch on local treats, you can browse a special section of vendors dedicated to Summer Fun and Adventure. This is where the event shines as a “must-attend.” You will find vendors showcasing the best summer getaways, adventure packages, and outdoor products. It is a rare opportunity to book your family’s next camping trip, cottage rental, or day-trip adventure right on the spot, all while supporting local businesses.

The Ultimate “Shop Local” Experience

For those who love the thrill of the find, the artisan marketplace will be buzzing. The event is packed with local small businesses and artisans selling handcrafted goods that you won’t find in big-box stores. From summer home decor to handmade jewelry and bespoke accessories, it is the perfect place to refresh your home and wardrobe for the season.

A Full Afternoon for the Whole Family

Finally, the venue itself is a major draw. The Ancaster Fairgrounds are a staple of the community for a reason. With easy parking and plenty of space to roam, it takes the stress out of the “family outing.” There is no rushing here; the event is designed for you to spend the whole afternoon. The kids can enjoy the activities, the parents can shop and plan, and everyone leaves well-fed and happy.
